FIRST ANALYSIS
Factual: Vee Speers, an Australian artist, has lived and worked in Paris since 1990. Speers studied fine art and photography at the QCA in Brisbane before working as a Stills Photographer at the ABC Television in Sydney in the 80′s. After moving to Paris she began exhibiting her series ‘Bordello’ , followed by The Birthday Party, Immortal and Thirteen, engaging viewers with the dramatic tension of her portraits and her unique pallet of colour.
Context: This photo is from her series called "the birthday party" These portraits of children confront us with reminders of our own childhood, whereby a homemade costume can transform you into a superhero, princess, cowboy or soldier, poised for adventures and hours of fun and excitement.
Technical: this photo looks like it has been taken with a painted wall or in a studio. i think vee speers has made you focused on the scissors and the long hair by having the angle of the camera straight, so you cant see her face or any other angle.
Aesthetic: What i like about this photo is that it shows emotion even though you can't see the face. I would like to be shown how to take pictures like this. I think this picture makes the viewer think about what its about and wanting to ask question about the picture.

wonderful! great pace you have said 'what' is happening in the photo but can you expand on 'how'...How does it show emotions, how does the image make the user question
ReplyDeleteIn regards to technical 'hows'... this is where you may need to do some research. the research can then be applied to your own planning of photoshoots.
fantastic effort!
