WHAT WENT WRONG AND HOW I FIXED IT

In my blog at the start I didn't really get the -factual, context, techninical and aesthetics, I didn't really know what to write so it was very short sentences ate the start especially the technical and aesthetics part but I have listen and looked up more detail about it and some are still abit short but a lot of my work that I have done was recent when I knew what I was doing. Before on all the pictures I just had factual, context, technical and aesthetics but now I knew what I was doing and put examples of the topic I was doing e.g. Composition. With my own interpretations of vee Speers when I was taking the pictures but they were abit blurry so I used the stand to make it straight and I took anew to get the right one.

HOW AND WHAT I DID:
These are my very own pictures inspired by Vee Speers.
To create these photos, I went into the photography studio at school. I experimented with the light a lot and changed mine and the models position quite a few times to get photo's at different angles.
In the photos my mole is wearing different outfits, I tried to show some of the outfits that Vee Speers was wearing or get close to that. Some of the pictures I've put the picture that I got inspired by in the middle so it shows you how I got that idea. I have copped and edited the photos and also kept the no fill ones as well so you can see the difference. I liked all my photos but my favourite one would be where she is holding the teddy.  I got all these photos from Vee Speers collection 'the birthday party'

THE SUMMARY OF VEE SPEERS

STYLE- Vee speers is to create beautiful yet disturbing images and she is unique, different from other artists work, and she doesnt like to copy other artists work. I like her style because its shows emotion and its very unique and very different from other peoples work and it tells a story between fantasy and real life.

TECHNIQUE- vee speers photos have an interesting simplicity of them. they are creative and dramatic without having an effect on the photograph. these pictures sometimes give off a sense of danger and innocence depending on what the personality of the child is. i like it because it is creative.

NARRATIVE- I think that Vee speers pictures show stories and when you look at them you feel like you are part of them

Independant Research - Vee Speers

Vee Speers is an Australian Photographer who is based in Paris. She studied at Queensland College of Art before working as a stills photographer for the ABC television. In the early 90's she moved to France and has since worked in fashion and photojournalism. Today she is a well established fine-art photographer with her work appearing is many well known exhibitions and publications.

FACTUAL:  these picture was taken by Vee Speers, who is an Australian photographer. I think her art has emotion that can surprise the viewer.  

CONTEXT: These photo is from her series called "the birthday party“  

TECHNICAL:  I think these photo was taken in a studio with a green screen with a DCLR camera, as you can see the background is light but she is dark ad shows emotion. 

AESTHETICS: what i like about these photos is that they all show emotion and the take you back to when  you used to dress up.

This set of photographs is from her 'Birthday Party' series it was published in 2008. i think these photos remind you of your childhood, when you were young you always wanted to dress up. Vee Speers has made these photo dramatic by making the faces look directly at the camera. this draws the viewer.

This is another series by Vee Speers called 'Thirteen' she took theses after 'The Birthday Party'. hey are of her daughter when she was thirteen. She was trying to capture the transitions from child to teenager.

TECHNICAL: I think these photos were taken in a studio, on a stand so they it doesn't show any blurred affect

AESTHETICS: I like these photos because they have a good effect and it shows emotion.

FACTUAL:Vee Speers, an Australian artist, has lived and worked in Paris since 1990. Speers studied fine art and photography at the QCA in Brisbane before working as a Stills Photographer at the ABC Television in Sydney in the 80′s. After moving to Paris she began exhibiting her series ‘Bordello’ , followed by The Birthday Party, Immortal and Thirteen, engaging viewers with the dramatic tension of her portraits and her unique pallet of colour.

CONTEXT: This picture clearly demonstrates depth of field by the girls focused and the boy in the background burled.  

TECHNICAL: i think this photo was taken with a digital camera but a slight movement when pressing the shutter.

AESTHETIC: i like the photo because it shows emotion. I shows depth of field aswell as the boy in the background i on high stilts but blurred and the girl is your main focus because she is smoking and it makes you feel why is she at a young age.

i took this photo to show depth of field, as you can see the background is blurred and the focus is right up at the camera.  

LIGHTING

LIGHTING DEFINITION: Light is a fundamental part of photography. Photographers use light in their photographic compositions, sometimes taking advantage of the natural light of their surroundings and other times manipulating light sources to achieve the desired lighting effect.

TYPES OF LIGHTING:

• Natural light
• Artificial light
• Diffused and direct lighting
• manipulating light with filters

FACTUAL: This photo was taken by Annie Leibovitz who has been a photographer since the 1970's when she worked for the Rolling Stones. In 2007 she was hired by Disney to shoot celebrities in various roles and scenes. 

CONTEXT: This photo is one of her lighting photos, it is a lady in a long white dress on a stage, with the light shinning down on her as she is the main point in this picture.

TECHNICAL: I think she has taken this photo in a studio on a stage or in a hall, with a DCLR camera because it looks recent. its focusing on the lady as the lights are shinning down on her.

AESTHETIC: i like this photo because it shows lighting very well and that the lady is the main focus but the detail in the room as the light britons up the room aswell as the lady.

FOCAL POINT

DEFINITION OF FOCAL POINT:
Focal point is where an object or person is the main point of interest in the photo, so that when someone sees the photo that is what their eye would be immediately drawn to.The focal point of a lens or mirror is the point in space where parallel light rays meet after passing through the lens or bouncing off the mirror. A "perfect" lens or mirror would send all light rays through one focal point, which would result in the clearest image.

TECHNICAL: i think this photo was taken with a Digital camera ad taken outside and used a fast movement shutter because if you look closely you can see that the skirt is moving. i think it was taken in a studio. 

AESTHETIC:  I like this photo because it shows focal point well as you are drawn to the bubble.

As you can see that the lines are going to the middle of the page and thats were you focus on.

COMPOSITION DEFINITION: composition is the way in which you place or arrange the person or thing in your photograph.

CONTEXT: This is a series of vees photos from the birthday party, as you can see you uses the rule of thirds.

TECHNICAL: as you can see that the background is light but her face is dark so its using lighting as well.

AESTHETIC: i like this photo because it makes you ask questions about what the photo is about.This picture has a lot of composition in. It has the rule of third and the golden section it also has contrast as the background is bright but her face is dark and her skin is smooth but she still has a mask on. This picture is simple aswell.

EXAMPLE- Rule of thirds:
The basic principle behind the rule of thirds is to imagine breaking an image down into thirds (both horizontally and vertically) so that you have 9 parts. 

With this grid in mind the ‘rule of thirds’ now identifies four important parts of the image that you should consider placing points of interest in as you frame your image.

Not only this – but it also gives you four ‘lines’ that are also useful positions for elements in your photo.

Technical: this photo looks like it has been taken with a painted wall or in a studio. i think vee speers has made you focused on the scissors and the long hair by having the angle of the camera straight, so you cant see her face or any other angle.  

Aesthetic: What i like about this photo is that it shows emotion even though you can't see the face. I would like to be shown how to take pictures like this. I think this picture makes the viewer think about what its about and wanting to ask question about the picture.
